Rice blast is one of the most dreaded diseases of rice worldwide. In Rice blast incidence is seen right from the nurseries. In the main field, blast incidence is observed in different stages of rice growth and is called as Leaf Blast, Neck blast, Node Blast and Panicle Blast.
Furazole is a systemic blasticide and can be applied to the rice crop as a prophylactic or a curative spray. Furazole is a Melanin Biosynthesis Inhibitor and arrests mycelial growth, conidia germination and appressoria formation. Furazole controls all the stages of blast in the main field and can also be used in nurseries to control blast. Furazole being systemic is absorbed by the rice plants immediately after application, thus providing a long residual period of control.
